Today's Summary

Preposition मतलब - सम्बन्ध सूचक अव्यय। ऐसा शब्द जो किसी Noun अथवा Pronoun का सम्बन्ध किसी दूसरे Noun अथवा Pronoun से बताए, Preposition कहलाता है।

प्रायः कई prepositions अलग-अलग स्थानों पर अलग-अलग अर्थ व्यक्त करते हैं। इसलिए इनके अर्थों को याद करने के साथ-साथ हमें इनके भावों को भी समझना चाहिए। कुछ महत्वपूर्ण prepositions निम्नलिखित हैं :

01. about (के बारे में / के विषय में, लगभग)

about me.
(मेरे बारे में।)
about my studies.
(मेरी पढ़ाई के बारे में।)
Jabalpur is about 90 kms far from Narsinghpur.
(जबलपुर, नरसिंहपुर से लगभग 90 किमी दूर है।)

02. during (के दौरान)

during the holiday.
(अवकाश के दौरान।)
I met her during the journey.
(मैं उससे यात्रा के दौरान मिला।)

03. after (के बाद)

after you.
(आपके बाद। या पहले आप।)
He returned after one month.
(वह एक माह बाद लौटा।)
after 9 o'clock.
(9 बजे के बाद।)

04. before (के पहले / के सामने)

before 9 o'clock.
(9 बजे से पहले।)
Don't go before I come back.
(मेरे आने से पहले मत जाना।)
I am nothing before them.
(उनके सामने में कुछ भी नहीं हूँ।)

05. instead of (के बजाय)

instead of playing.
(खेलने के बजाय।)
During the lockdown, we should stay at home instead of going out.
(तालाबन्दी के दौरान, हमें बाहर जाने के बजाय घर पर रुकना चाहिए।)
Read instead of writing.
(लिखने के बजाय पढ़ाई करो।)

06. in/into (में / के अन्दर)

in the class.
(कक्षा में।)
She came into the class.
(वह कक्षा में आयी।)
Children are playing in the park.
(बच्चे उद्यान में खेल रहे हैं।)

07. on/onto/upon (के ऊपर)

on that tree.
(उस पेड़ पर।)
Meet me on Sunday.
(मुझसे रविवार को मिलो।)
The cat jumped upon a rat.
(बिल्ली एक चूहे पर झपटी।)
Ravi came onto the terrace.
(रवि छत पर आया।)

08. under/beneath (के नीचे)

under the tree.
(पेड़ के नीचे।)
beneath the pillow.
(तकिये के नीचे।)
Headmaster is under the Principal.
(प्रधानपाठक प्राचार्य के नीचे होता है।)

09. at (पर, की ओर)

at the wall.
(दीवार पर।)
at 5:30 p.m.
(शाम साढ़े पाँच बजे।)
Look at the board.
(बोर्ड की तरफ देखो।)

10. towards (की ओर / के प्रति)

Go towards them.
(उनकी ओर जाओ।)
my father's behavior towards me.
(मेरे प्रति मेरे पिताजी का व्यवहार।)

11. over (के ऊपर / से अधिक)

over the head.
(सिर के ऊपर।)
Birds fly over the park.
(पक्षी उद्यान के ऊपर उड़ते हैं।)
over 100 million people.
(10 करोड़ से अधिक लोग।)

12. above (ऊपर / उपरोक्त)

Read the above passage.
(उपरोक्त गद्यांश को पढ़ो।)
They live above us.
(वे हमारे ऊपर (ऊपरी खण्ड) रहते हैं।)
Your name is above me in the list.
(सूची में तुम्हारा नाम मेरे ऊपर है।)

13. below (नीचे / निम्न)

Answer the questions given below.
(नीचे दिए गए प्रश्नों के उत्तर दीजिए।)
We live below them.
(हम उनके नीचे रहते हैं।)
My name is below you in the list.
(सूची में मेरा नाम तुम्हारे नीचे है।)

14. inside (अन्दर की ओर)

inside the room.
(कमरे के अन्दर।)
Go inside the campus.
(परिसर के अन्दर जाओ।)

15. outside (बाहर की ओर)

outside the room.
(कमरे के बाहरी तरफ।)
Go outside the campus.
(परिसर के बाहर जाओ।)

16. out of (के/से बाहर)

out of the state.
(राज्य से बाहर।)
Get out of here.
(यहाँ से बाहर निकल जाओ।)
Let's go out of this city.
(चलो इस शहर से बाहर चलें।)

17. of (का / की / के)

of me.
(मेरा / मेरी / मेरे।)
the Prime Minister of India.
(भारत के प्रधानमन्त्री।)
some of your friends.
(आपके कुछ मित्र।)

18. for (के लिए, से)

for you.
(आपके लिए।)
an application for leave.
(छुट्टी के लिए आवेदन-पत्र।)
for 2 months.
(दो माह के लिए। / दो माह से।)

19. from (से / में से, की ओर से)

from Mumbai.
(मुम्बई से।)
from the bag.
(बैग में से।)
Accept this gift from me.
(मेरी ओर से यह उपहार स्वीकार करें।)

20. in front of (के सामने)

in front of my house.
(मेरे घर के सामने।)
The snake was just in front of me.
(साँप मेरे ठीक सामने था।)
There is a beautiful pond in front of the temple.
(मन्दिर के सामने एक सुन्दर सरोवर है।)

21. behind (के पीछे)

behind my house.
(मेरे घर के पीछे।)
The snake was just behind me.
(साँप मेरे ठीक पीछे था।)
There is a beautiful pond behind the temple.
(मन्दिर के पीछे एक सुन्दर सरोवर है।)

22. beside (के बाजू में)

beside my school.
(मेरे विद्यालय के बाजू में।)
He came and sat beside me.
(वह आकर मेरे बाजू में बैठ गया।)

23. near (के समीप / के पास)

near the village.
(गाँव के पास।)
I saw a huge banyan tree near the river.
(नदी के पास मैंने बरगद का एक विशाल वृक्ष देखा।)

24. around (के आसपास)

around 30.
(तीस के आसपास।)
Look carefully around you.
(अपने आसपास ध्यान से देखो।)
Keep cleanness around your house.
(अपने घर के आसपास साफ-सफाई रखा करो।)

25. among (अधिक के बीच में)

among the players.
(खिलाड़ियों के बीच।)
Try to make peace among the people.
(लोगों के बीच शान्ति बनाने का प्रयास करो।)
There is no tension among us.
(हम लोगों में कोई तनाव नहीं है।)

26. between (2/3 के बीच में)

between you both.
(आप दोनों के बीच।)
between Ram and Shyam.
(राम और श्याम के बीच।)
between Ram, Shyam and Mohan.
(राम, श्याम और मोहन के बीच।)

27. besides (के अतिरिक्त, के अलावा)

besides money.
(पैसे के अलावा।)
Besides your studies, you should play too.
(अपनी पढ़ाई के अलावा तुम्हें खेलना भी चाहिए।)

28. despite / in spite of (के बावजूद)

despite having the fever.
(बुखार होने के बावजूद।)
Despite your integrity, he can't trust you.
(आपकी सत्यनिष्ठा के बावजूद भी वह आप पर विश्वास नहीं कर सकता है।)
In spite of having money, I could not help you.
(पैसा होने के बावजूद भी मैं आपकी सहायता न कर सका।)

29. with (के साथ, से)

with my father.
(मेरे पिताजी के साथ।)
I'll come with my father.
(मैं अपने पिताजी के साथ आउँगी।)
You can write with a pencil.
(आप पेंसिल से लिख सकते हैं।)

30. along with (के साथ-साथ)

along with your car.
(आपकी कार के साथ-साथ।)
Please, do my homework along with yours.
(अपने होमवर्क के साथ-साथ मेरा भी कर दो ना। प्लीज़!)
I can not take you with me. You can go along with us if you want.
(मैं तुम्हें अपने साथ नहीं ले जा सकता। तुम चाहो तो हमारे साथ-साथ जा सकते हो।)

31. without (के बिना)

without uniform.
(गणवेश के बिना।)
You can do nothing without knowledge.
(ज्ञान के बिना आप कुछ भी नहीं कर सकते हैं।)
Don't even move from here without completing the lesson.
(पाठ पूरा किए बिना यहाँ से हिलना भी मत।)

32. within (के अन्दर-अन्दर)

within 24 hours.
(24 घण्टे के अन्दर-अन्दर।)
Find out the solution within the book.
(इसी पुस्तक में हल खोजो।)
You can stroll within the room.
(आप इसी कक्ष के अन्दर-अन्दर टहल सकते हैं।)

इस क्लास में आज हमने निम्नलिखित preposition के प्रयोग में अन्तर भी समझा :

in / into / within
on / upon / over / above
beneath / under / below
since / for / from
with / along with

अगले अध्याय में हम शब्द के चौथे प्रकार, अर्थात् Determiner का अध्ययन करेंगे। some, any, much, many, each, every, little, few, all इत्यादि इसके कुछ उदाहरण हैं।
